Westbury Town Council, Wiltshire

In 2017, a forward-thinking Town Council at Westbury, Wiltshire, piloted by Deborah Urch, embarked on a program of defibrillator installations to make Westbury and surrounding districts HeartSafe®. Having carefully chosen strategic very visible locations within the community, HeartSafe® cabinets began to appear. Their distinctive green beacon lights fitted to the top of the cabinets helped to ensure they became easily identifiable at night. Training awareness occasions took place to encourage the community to engage and understand the benefits of the early use of a defibrillator when a suspected SCA has occurred. Throughout this time, the cabinets have been accessed on many occasions to assist the public watched over by Andrew Thomas, who religiously maintains/cares for the Council’s investment in support of the community.
