Extra minutes can save lives. Know where your bleed kit is located in your community.

The Bleed Kit locator map identifies unlocked bleed kit dispensers available to the public, following the AACE (Association of Ambulance Chief Executives) recommendations. The map allows the public to check in their community where bleed kits are closest to your place of home or work. The map identifies kits that are registered by their owners throughout the UK and are listed on the map as they are happy to share access in the event of an emergency. Anyone owning or providing a bleed kit to their community can freely register it’s availability here.

The map is to encourage people to learn the whereabouts of their nearest bleed kit dispenser in advance of ever needing to use one in an emergency. Having this knowledge will save time once you ring 999 and make contact with the emergency services.

Any medical items in the Bleed Kit that were not supplied by HeartSafe and their partners are the responsibility of the individual or organisation that registered their Bleed Kit on the HeartSafe Bleed Kit map. This includes replacing these items by the specified due date, regardless of whether the kit includes a dispenser or not.

The Bleed Kit Partnership...

HeartSafe and Avon and Somerset Police have successfully partnered to increase the number of bleed kits available to the community. So far, this collaboration has funded over 500 bleed kits, which are either attached to existing HeartSafe defibrillator cabinets or wall-mounted in prominent locations across the Avon and Somerset region. Please see the map to find out more about where these locations are.

Catastrophic Bleed?

Is this an emergency?

Call 999, ask for the ambulance service and follow their instructions.

If you believe a person has suffered a catastrophic bleed, immediately ring either 999 or 112 and ask for the ambulance service. They will advise you on what action to take and either inform you where your nearest bleed kit is located or ask if you have a bleed kit. The operator will remain on the line and ask you a series of questions which should only take you a few moments and advise you on what steps to take to assist in emergency.
